CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TND) — A high school teacher has been arrested on five counts of sexual activity with a student after his mother found out what had been happening.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police in North Carolina said the alleged victim is “an 18-year-old male student at South Mecklenburg High School,” where 26-year-old Gabriela Neufeld taught.
Her name, listed as Gabriela Cartaya-Neufeld by the sheriff’s office, does not appear on the school’s website.
Police said the teacher and student “had engaged in sexual activity in the 5300 block of Closeburn Road,” which is the location of Park Road Park, about three miles from the school.
WSOC reported the student’s mother realized he was there, rather than at rugby practice, and she turned in the teacher, after showing up and taking pictures.
Sexual activity with a student by a teacher is a felony.
